Safety and Security

The Department of Safety and Security

The primary objective of the department is to provide a safe and healthy environment which enhances the campus learning experience and supports the mission of the college.
The Department of Safety and Security is located in Main Building on first floor in office 116.  Officers are on duty 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year.  The Department aids in enforcement of federal, state, and local statutes and Greensboro College policies and procedures.  Although Security officers do not make arrests, the Security Department maintains a working relationship with the Greensboro Police Department, UNC-G Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies, which is located approximately two blocks from campus.  The department is staffed by a director, captain, corporal, twelve officers and two work study students. All officers are trained using the North Carolina private protection service guidelines. Each officer is also first aid and AED certified.

The Department of Safety and Security is responsible for security enforcement, crime prevention, and crisis intervention at Greensboro College.  Also, it is responsible for providing specific support services for the Greensboro College community which include:

  • Assisting campus motorists with minor vehicle problems;
  • Providing escort services 24 hours a day;
  • Providing crime protection lectures and seminars;
  • Inspecting buildings for safety compliance;
  • Maintaining a Lost and Found Department;
  • Assisting with lockouts;
  • Providing engraving instruments to I.D. belongings;
  • Providing free bicycle registration;
  • Issuance of access fobs.
  • Assisting with fire drills
