The Triad World Affairs Council
The Triad World Affairs Council (TWAC) was founded in 1995 by business and cultural leaders with the purpose of raising public awareness of international, political, economic and cultural issues. The Council provides business and industry leaders, and the general public with inside reports from international representatives and experts, and supports education at the secondary and higher educational levels.
The Triad World Affairs Council, housed at Greensboro College, Greensboro, North Carolina, is one of 86 councils worldwide linked to the National Council of World Affairs Organizations headquartered in Washington, D.C. The Triad World Affairs Council brings a distinguished roster of speakers throughout the year to North Carolina enhancing cultural enrichment to provide an understanding of international trends, problems, issues and options for U.S. foreign policy. Each year the Triad World Affairs Council arranges one evening presentation for seven months beginning in September each year. The members and guests who attend our presentations come from the Triad region which encompasses the cities of Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point, and Burlington, North Carolina.
The Triad World Affairs Council’s Board of Directors consists of Chairman Thomas Clawson, Mr. John R. Belfi, Mr. Donald Brady, Mr. Charles Coates, Ms. Elizabeth Conrad, Mr. William Cordes, Mr. T.G. Daniel, Mr. David Haxton, Mr. Bynum Hunter, Dr. David Olson, Dr. Clay Poindexter, and Ms. Claudia Davis, executive director.
